Where fragrance is concerned, 2023 will be a tough year to top with its senses-delighting launches, but 2024 is already shaping up to be another big year for perfumes, colognes and everything in between.
Last year, vanilla perfumes went viral, niche scents were on the rise and old fave fragrances were reimagined. So far this year, perfumers like YSL and Ellis Brooklyn have translated fashion trends to fragrance, bottling up the colours du jour (read: red and peach) and presenting new ways to wear them. Others like Armani and Viktor & Rolf have revamped their signature scents. Suffice it to say, we’ll be spoiled by choice with an influx of new fragrances to shop from as the months roll on.
Follow along as we break down the best new perfumes that’ll define 2024.
Transporting wearers to a Parisian café in 1996 with its warm, gourmand scent, Maison Margiela’s Afternoon Delight Eau de Toilette smells positively scrumptious.
Inside the perfumer’s signature apothecary jar-inspired bottle, notes of Madagascar vanilla, madeleine accord and sandalwood make for a sweet fragrance that offers much more than your average vanilla perfume. Spritz this on ahead of your next coffee date and thank us later.
To introduce Old Fashioned, Kilian Paris tapped Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount to unveil this boozy new scent in its latest campaign. In addition to his appointment as ambassador of this sophisticated scent, Laviscount also becomes the first-ever spokesperson for the brand.
Looking to capture the “scent of an 18-year aged whiskey following the finest Scottish tradition,” Old Fashion is opens up with notes of wheat absolute and davana essence, then settles into cedarwood, tolu balm and styrax for that suggestion of whiskey. The look of its weighted glass bottle takes inspiration from art-deco era glasses and the speakeasys of yesteryear.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Libre Flowers and Flames Eau de Parfum Florale is the newest member of the brand’s iconic Libre fragrance family. This fresh interpretation of the perfume puts a floral twist on its predecessors.
With a creamy coco-palm tree flower accord at its core that mingles with a spicy lily flower note, this Dua Lipa-approved scent also offers a more “sunkissed” take on the classic Libre fragrance.
The rumours are true: Sol de Janeiro just dropped another perfume mist for #perfumetok inhabitants to obsess over, and its name is Cheirosa 76. Though, die-hard fans of the brand may remember this fragrance by its former name, After Hours. Inspired by Brazil’s 1976 discotheque era, this hypnotic scent features intoxicating black currant, midnight jasmine and amber woods notes.
Picture this: it’s a balmy night in Miami, the sun is setting, and Ocean Drive is just beginning to light up with neon signs galore. If you could bottle that image, it’d smell like Ellis Brooklyn’s new Miami Nectar Eau de Parfum.
A summery swirl of pink pineapple and coconut water trailed by plumeria, vanilla and salted woods, this fragrance is in the running to become the scent of the summer. The pièce de résistance? With its faceted angles, the ocean blue bottle is a nod to the Art Deco aesthetic that this Floridian city is best known for.
Charlotte Tilbury just launched her first-ever fragrance collection, and we’ve got our sights set on adding this scent in particular to our perfume rotation for the warmer months ahead.
Formulated with emotion-boosting molecules to trigger feelings of tranquillity and serenity, say hello to Calm Bliss. This aquatic floral scent opens with notes of fresh bergamot oil and relaxing lavandin oil, and rounds out with pure white musks and calming orris concentrate as it dries.

The latest addition to the family, Good Girl Blush Elixir, is an intense blend of rose, vanilla and smoky patchouli. The eau de parfum is a sensual, woody floral that’s seriously addictive. The stiletto’s still got it. —Souzan Michael Galway

Michelle Pfeiffer’s genderless fine fragrance line Henry Rose has just arrived at Sephora Canada, and our favourite scent of the bunch is Queens & Monsters. Delightfully woody and provocative, it truly is a fragrance fit for queens.
“The idea was to create a concentrated woody fragrance that still showed a very fluid and multifaceted identity,” shares perfumer Pascal Gaurin in a press release. “It is a game of contrasts between brightness and sensuality, a dialogue between the sparkling, zesty, freshness of the petitgrain and the creamy, milky facet of the sandalwood.”
