December Samples Sales That Will Boost Your Holiday Cheer

Fashion people love sample sales. Despite the fact that most of us pine to wear head-to-toe designer outfits, the cruel reality is that most of us can’t afford it. That’s where sample sales come in: the chance to score coveted designer pieces at slashed prices that might actually be possible to work into our budgets. Who cares if a piece a little worn, it’s missing a button, or there’s an errant tear? It’s 70% off!

If you’re hankering for a retail fix before blowing your budget on holiday gifts for others, we’d like to draw your attention to two upcoming Toronto sample sales that you won’t want to miss.

The first is the Sid Neigum/Beaufille sample sale. Neigum is the Canadian design wunderkind who’s won just about every design competition in Canada and uses the mathematical golden ratio to create perfectly proportioned, intellectually challenging clothes. Beaufille is sister act Chloe and Parris Gordon, who create glamorous staples for women who are a little more quirky than the core customer of Phoebe Philo‘s Celine. The two labels will be holding a joint sample sale where their wares will be, yes, 70% off on December 7th and 8th from 11am-6pm at 8 Gladstone Avenue. In addition, the designers are giving away a free item with the first 50 purchases over $50, so we suspect there’ll be a lineup. Well, what are you waiting for?

The second is White Saturday, a brand new shopping event from Archival Toronto where all of the archive-worthy vintage designer goods for sale are under $200. According to the organizers, there will be early 2000s Dior monogram bags, rare Comme des Garcons, and plenty of Raf Simons pieces. It’s positioned as a way to acquire important, impactful designs while minimizing waste – after all, secondhand clothing is technically recycling, right? The sale will take place on December 15th from 11am to 8pm at 1 Carlaw Avenue.

Consider it good sample sale karma. We hope you stock your closet with incredible pieces that you’ll reach for all of next year.
