At Just 16 Years Old, Kaia Gerber Has Just Landed Her Biggest Collab to Date

The success of Tommy Hilfiger’s collaboration with Gigi Hadid was pretty exceptional–we’re talking a 900 per cent increase in traffic to Hilfiger’s site following the debut show, all within the first 48 hours. So it’s no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld has tapped a member of the next generation of supermodels, the 16-year-old sensation Kaia Gerber for his own model collab.

Gerber, who opened for Chanel’s SS18 show in Paris is no stranger to the modelling world. As the daughter of Cindy Crawford, she’s pretty much grown up in this industry. But with a plethora of high fashion shows already under her belt, she’s making a name all for herself. And this collab with Lagerfeld is no exception.

The capsule collection, appropriately named Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia, contains ready-to-wear pieces that include both clothing and accessories. The items are a mixture of the pair’s backgrounds, a combination of America’s chilled out West Coast and France’s Parisian capital city. From wetsuit-inspired pieces to tailored tuxedo jackets, this is a collection that truly embodies both icons.

The items appear to be mostly monochrome with red accents but the collection also incorporates bursts of dusty millennial pink, and an even more current silvery purple that seems to give off a very 2018 holographic vibe.

The photographs continue to blend the collaborator’s two worlds with the look book shot on the streets of Los Angeles and the campaign shot back in Paris. The Paris photos were actually taken by Lagerfeld himself at his 7L Studio. Gerber, of course, stars in all of the images.

The collection becomes available August 30th at Karl.com before launching in international e-tailers two weeks later on September 15th.
