Every Piece from the Kenzo x H&M Collection Here

At the press conference in New York yesterday morning, you could tell Kenzo’s creative directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, were thrilled to join H&M’s growing list of luxury collaborators.

“True to the spirit of the brand, there’s a joyfulness in the pieces,” said Leon.

As longtime friends and business partners, Kenzo’s design duo described the magic in both brands coming together to create a collection that includes a whopping 110 items.

While each look is totally unique to this collaboration, there are plenty of hidden archival references that speak to the house’s signature stylings. The ribbon dress for example (where reams of ribbons are sewn together to make fabric) first made its runway debut in Paris in 1978 and was resurrected and modernized for this special project. The loud prints are another classic that was revamped in new colour ways and fresh combinations. Leopard and floral? Why not?

Lim and Leon are perfectionists through and through, designing every detail right down to the custom hardware, collector’s edition boxes (they come in 10 prints), even the thread on the hang tags. Lim predicts the pink zebra stiletto ankle boots might take the prize as the most popular buy, but we’re betting the tiger-emblazoned sweatshirts, pajama-style blouse and fun fur coats will give it a run for the money.
