Is Marchesa Ready for a Comeback?

It’s been three months since Vogue ran a puff piece absolving Harvey Weinstein‘s now-ex-wife Georgina Chapman of any guilt after her husband was felled by the #MeToo movement. Chapman’s brand, Marchesa, was implicated in the scandal when it was revealed that Weinstein bullied multiple actresses into wearing Marchesa gowns on the red carpet. However, in an article published by WWD earlier this week, multiple celebrity stylists are quoted suggesting that Marchesa is ripe for a red carpet comeback during next month’s Emmy awards. Micah Schifman, Sarah Silverman’s stylist is quoted as saying, “The bottom line is everyone loves a comeback, especially in Hollywood. We are the quickest to turn our backs and even quicker to open the door on them.” We’ll just have to wait and see. (WWD)

Bella Hadid is the Face of True Religion Jeans

Bella Hadid, the 21-year-old supermodel with the superhuman abs, has been tapped to star in True Religion’s latest fall campaign. Founded in 2002, True Religion was one of one of the first labels to manufacture “premium denim” and quietly filed for bankruptcy in 2017. Now, the company has emerged with a reorganization plan that involves widening its appeal to Gen Z by hiring one of its most stratospheric stars. According to a statement from the brand, Hadid represents “the natural choice to meld the iconic essence of the brand with the modern view of its future.” (WWD)

Rihanna’s Lingerie Line is Coming to NYFW

Rihanna will stage an “immersive experience” for her Savage x Fenty lingerie collection on Sept. 12 in Brooklyn during the upcoming season of New York Fashion Week. But its not the first time Rih has participated in NYFW – she staged a show for her Fenty x Puma line last September. According to WWD, the presentation is a see-now buy-now collection that will be immediately shoppable on, as well as at pop-up in New York, followed by pop-ups in three American cities later this fall. RiRi sure knows how to build anticipation. (WWD)

Canadian Designer Sid Neigum Returns to Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with RE\SET™

In a last minute addition to the Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with RE\SET™ lineup, Sid Neigum will return to Canada to present his S/S 2019 collection. Neigum is one of the most successful Canadian designers to emerge from Canada in recent years. He started his namesake label in 2011 and proceeded to win every major national competition available for fashion designers in Canada (the TFI New Labels Award, the Mercedes-Benz Startup Award and the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent). In 2016 he began showing at London Fashion Week thanks to the DHL Exported program, which awarded him with two fully sponsored fashion shows. His S/S 2019 collection, which will be shown in a parking garage at Yorkville Village, marks his triumphant return home. We can’t wait to see what this true innovator has in store. (Press Release)
