Fashion Takes over Tribeca

As a lover of fashion and documentaries, nothing makes me happier than seeing the two combined. And I’m happy to report that Tribeca thinks so too! The film festival premiered three fashion documentaries this past week including “McQueen”, a look into the life of late British designer Alexander McQueen, “Yellow is Forbidden”, displaying the work of Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei, and finally “The Gospel According to André“, which follows the career of former Vogue editor André Leon Talley. Both “McQueen” and “Yellow is Forbidden” will be shown at Hot Docs in Toronto, beginning April 26th.

Sarah Jessica Parker Released a Bridal Collection

We knew this Sex and the City actress could design some killer shoes, but now she’s also releasing a collection for “brides and beyond”. The dresses are not your conventional bridal gowns and come in colours like fiery reds and muted blues. There’s even a black halter jumpsuit. The collection, which is in collaboration with Gilt, is available now. So whether you’re heading down the aisle or just headed out for drinks, check out these new designs by SJP.

A Star-Studded Party at Alaïa’s New Flagship Store

Maison Alaïa opened this week in London and it’s the first flagship store for the company outside of Paris. Azzedine Alaïa, who passed away late last year, was celebrated by many at the grand opening party, including Edward Enninful, Manolo Blahnik and Alaïa’s long-time friend, Naomi Campbell who co-hosted the event.

Club Monaco Released a Limited-Edition T-Shirt Collection

Club Monaco collaborated with poet Yrsa Daley-Ward at an event in New York this week, where there was an intimate poetry reading from Daley-Ward’s new book bone. There were 100 T-shirts up for grabs, each embroidered by Chantal Strasburger of Read Receipts. The capsule collection included three different embroidered quotes from Daley-Ward’s poetry: “There will be more love. There will be more love.”, “Truth is a beauty, whether pretty or not.” and “Today is the first day of the rest of it.”
