Cannes 2015: The best-dressed stars on the film festival’s red carpet

Red carpet action may buzz on this side of the world week after week, but all eyes will be on the South of France for the next few, with the 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival officially kicking off today. With premieres, photocalls and parties left right and centre, outfit inspiration à la red carpet doesn’t get better than this. From chic, resort-inspired outfits for the daytime to jaw-dropping gowns for the evening, the Cannes 2015 red carpet has it all.

Sienna Miller, one of the festival’s jurors, set the bar high in a shoulder-baring Balenciaga number at the jury photo call earlier in the day, but the main action began at Opening Ceremony with Julianne Moore and Naomi Watts leading the pack. Looking ever so majestic, the two L’Oréal ambassadors unleashed feathery ensembles at the premiere of Standing Tall with Moore in Armani Privé and Watts in Elie Saab.

While Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes went head-to-head in the battle of who oozed the most Versace sex appeal, Isabella Rossellini and Fan Bingbing took a page out of Riri’s Met Gala look and glided in what’s probably the red carpet fave for this upcoming award season: the cape gown. Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o twirled her way onto the red carpet in an eye-catching, one-of-a-kind jade-coloured gown by Gucci, naturally making photographers’ lenses turn her way.

When it comes to wardrobe transitions, Charlize Theron and Emma Stone are masters of this skill. After donning LBDs earlier in the day, both actresses stepped out in timeless Dior gowns for their evening premieres. But if we were naming our fave of the bunch, an ethereal-looking Zoe Kravitz takes the cake with her Grecian-inspired Valentino dress.

With the festival stretching across a 12-day time period, we don’t need to remind you to check this page on a daily basis. Because with the wardrobe being ah-mazing on the first two days and rumours of many, many Hollywood and international stars making their way to Cannes 2015 swirling about, let’s just say it’s a can’t-miss event. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
