Toronto got a lot steamier last night, thanks to the arrival of Jake Gyllenhaal at the premiere of Nightcrawler at The Elgin. While his character portrays a drifter/ petty thief who somehow gets himself thrown into a world of freelance photographers on the hunt for the next big story, you can be sure all cameras (including screaming fans’ smartphones) were on this Hollywood heartthrob yesterday. Showing no signs of his character (we hear he lost 30 pounds for this role!), Gyllenhaal showed up looking buff and handsome as ever in a dark navy suit (sans tie). And judging from social media, it looked like fans were much more interested to see Jake himself, rather than the movie. But can you blame them?

The Elgin was not only host to the smoldering Gyllenhaal. Fellow good-looking cast member Riz Ahmed and screenwriter-turned-director Dan Gilroy both suited up and deserved just as much of the attention. While fans may have been more excited to see the dapper men on the red carpet, co-star Rene Russo (and director’s wife!) held her own dressed in a low-key and playful fashion that included a black v-neck knit dress complete with a fringed skirt. Oh, did we mention she’s also 60?
