Where to Latin Dance Like Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello in Toronto This Summer

ICYMI, Toronto’s very own Shawn Mendes and his BFF Camila Cabello dropped the music video for their single “Señorita,” and it’s all sorts of BEAUTIFUL. (If you follow me on IG, you’ll know that I am metaphorically deceased right now.)

The 4-minute video is totally reminiscent of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, despite the fact that the two pop stars don’t actually dance. To clarify, they are ABOUT TO DANCE: Shawn’s “character” clearly asks for Camila’s hand on the dance floor. They spin a bit, he dips her, but then she comes to a realization that she can’t fall for him, so she runs away. If you haven’t seen this heart-string-pulling masterpiece yet, we’re linking it below, because it is a MUST-WATCH. (And you’ll probably hear it on the radio all summer.)

In light of “Señorita,” and the dance that never actually happened, we’ve put together a list of the best places to Latin dance in Toronto this summer.

Lula Lounge

This one is a no-brainer, really. This Toronto institution, located at Dundas W. and Lansdowne, hosts a special event every Friday night called Havana Club. However, Lula is arguably most famous for its Salsa Saturdays, where guests can drop by for a group dance lesson led by one of the club’s instructors, before the floor opens up to everyone else. El Rancho

Situated right at College and Bathurst, this restaurant opens its dance floor on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for Salsa, Bachata and other types of Latin dance. (elrancho.ca)

Dovercourt House

For those who are looking for a no-frills and authentic dance experience, Dovercourt House is host to many events and socials by local Latin dance companies. Check out the venue’s Facebook page for the latest in Salsa, Bachata, Tango, Mambo and Kizombo events. (Dovercourt House)

TD Salsa on St. Clair

Mark your calendars! The 15th annual street festival will be taking over Toronto’s midtown on July 6 and 7. It’s the city’s biggest Salsa party and if you haven’t been it is literally a non-stop dance party. (salsaintoronto.com)
