Are Ingrown Toenail Cleaning Videos the New Pimple Popping Videos?

The guilty pleasure I refuse to feel guilty about.

It’s a well-known fact that I love ASMR. Gooey noises via pillowy slime? Sure. Crinkles by way of flipping through water-damaged notebooks? Yes, please. The sound of some kid devouring a 20-piece McDonalds nugget meal? Don’t @ me.

For the record, I’ve never been into pimple-popping videos: they make me heave. BUT I totally understand the thrill and gratification of watching said videos. (No disrespect to the Dr. Pimple Popper lovers out there.) However, I have, on numerous occasions, convinced a colleague (or two… or three…) to watch an ear cleaning vid with me at my desk. So you could imagine my intrigue when a recommended video appeared on my YouTube homepage dubbed “Ingrown Toenail and Impacted Toenail Relief and Prevention,” touting a whopping 2 million views. WHAT?!

Turns out the woman behind ingrown toenail cleaning videos, Lori Halloway–or The Meticulous Manicurist–is a Michigan-based nail technician with over 20 years experience.

While her videos are so, so satisfying to watch, Halloway’s main goal, according to her channel bio, is to “set a new standard of care in nail education.” That means going over the basics on how to care for problematic toes, instructing viewers on how to go about administering at-home pedis, and even filming gel/acrylic tutorials for aspiring nail techs. Some of it is quite gnarly, but her passion for providing her clients with a non-judgemental experience, plus eagerness to share is truly inspiring. Some of her viewers have even booked appointments with her! (If I were in Michigan, YOU KNOW I WOULD.)

If you’ve made it this far in the article, then you’re probably waiting for a video clip. Behold:

Aside from her channel, Halloway runs an online store that stocks all of the nifty little implements she uses on her clients, like the ingrown sidewall cleaner that features prominently in her videos.

So yes, if you’re a fan of ASMR, Dr. Pimple Popper, slime-poking and kinetic-sand cutting, then you may enjoy the zen-inducing qualities of Halloway’s ingrown toenail cleaning videos. Because I sure do.
