What’s in your bag, Zoe Kazan?

Mondays generally suck, unless you get to spend them hanging with indie darling Zoe Kazan. If the name doesn’t ring a bell (and hell, that last name should), you’d probably know Kazan from Ruby Sparks, the film she not only wrote but also starred in back in 2012, and lately, as the bright-eyed romantic lead opposite Daniel Radcliffe in The F Word. Filmed in Toronto and for what seems like the first time ever, actually set in Toronto, The F Word (or What If? in the United States) tells the story of two friends artfully trying to deny a budding romance while inhabiting the dreaded Friend zone. We snooped the contents of her olive green Miu Miu satchel while chatting about her fave things about Toronto (touring the city by foot), ways to relax in flight (half a melatonin does the trick) and great ways to fall asleep (watch 10 minutes of any reality television show). Now proceed with snooping her bag for further revelations of her charm.

“Normally I have half eaten bars and bank full of change at the bottom of my bag. But I cleared it out because I’m traveling. I always feel like a crazy person going through security. There’s always one chic woman with one half empty bag and I always have like 6 bags with my sweater piled on my head so this was my attempt to be that woman.”

“The sunglasses are Warby Parker my friend Leith Clark designed them. I have really light coloured eyes so I tear in the sun so I always need sunglasses.”

“My keys are pretty obvious. I got this tag while in the Appalachian mountains. I have a rape whistle – it doesn’t work. It was a present.”

“My iphone is so old that the microphone doesn’t work on my phone anymore so I can only talk through my headsets, that’s why I have those and also to listen to music.”

“I don’t usually carry this many lipsticks, but it is the preimere tonight and I don’t know what colour lip I’m going to want so I brought a bunch just in case. Normally I don’t wear a lot of makeup so that is pretty irregular.”

“Rescue Remedy is a homeopathic remedy for stress. It’s mostly alcohol. You put it under your tongue.”

“This is the third book in the series. It just came out. My best friend is an English professor and she recommended it to me so it can’t be that trashy, but it’s pretty trashy. It’s about witches and time travel – good airplane reading.”
