spring 2016 fashion ads

We may be smack dab in the middle of winter but with a slew of fashion brands debuting their Spring 2016 campaigns, warmer, happier days don’t seem too far away.

Fashion ads are notorious for their shock effect with many potential to go viral and generate talk on the world wide web. Looking at the latest Spring 2016 fashion ads, we can say goal attained. World, meet Lightning, a super girl from the popular Japanese video game Final Fantasy. Collaborating with video game developer, Tesuya Normura and Square Enix, the team digitally put the pink-haired fighter in many of Louis Vuitton’s much-coveted ensembles. But if you think that’s the shock factor, think again. In another series photographed by Bruce Weber, Jaden Smith makes an appearance wearing a skirt, yet again furthering the gender fluid conversation.

While many brands feature the new crop of supermodels/Insta girls for their campaigns as a way to appeal to the younger crowd (think Gigi Hadid for Versace and Karlie Kloss for Topshop), Balmain strayed from the usual squad. Instead, Olivier Rousteing invited the original supes, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell, to join his Balmain Army for the brand’s Spring 2016 campaign. Talk about star power.
