Pippa Middleton’s Wedding: All the Fashionable Details

It was the society event of the season (and let’s be honest, of our year!). Pippa Middleton and James Matthews’ wedding was straight out of a fairytale. Next to sister Kate’s royal affair, it rates as one of our all time faves with gorgeous details galore. Let’s break down five fashionable details from Pippa’s we adored.

Pippa’s Dress
Her bespoke guipure lace gown designed by Giles Deacon has become an instant classic, and Pippa a newly minted bridal icon. Her dress had a very slight similarity to Kate’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown with it’s corseted lace bodice and sleeves, but Pippa was definitely more daring and contemporary with the super-sleek cut of her high-neck gown and skin-baring keyhole cut out in back. Also where Kate bared no arms with her wrist length sleeves, Pippa opted for a modern cap sleeve (all the better to showcase her perfectly toned and tanned biceps).

Pippa’s Accessories
Understated elegance was the vibe Pippa rocked, and all her pieces were a gorgeous match with her dress. Milliner Stephen Jones created a delicate tulle veil dotted with pearls for the bride who also wore delicate a Maidenhair fern tiara designed by Robinson Pelham, the Middleton family jeweller. Pippa’s diamond drop earrings were also created by Robinson Pelham and were the same ones she wore as a bridesmaid at Kate and William’s wedding.

Kate’s Dress
Though her fashion choice has received very mixed reviews, we think the Duchess looked amazing in her Alexander McQueen Millennial Pink dress and matching fascinator. No doubt Kate was VERY conscious of not upstaging her sis so her choice of gown may have been safe and demure but it was perfect for the occasion. Let’s face it, Kate never makes a misstep and we think she looked glorious.

The Bridal Party
The royal wee ones stole the show with their adorable outfits. Spanish children’s wear label Pepa & Co designed white Peter Pan collar shirts and sage knickerbockers for Prince George and the boys; and white smocked dresses trimmed with Millennial Pink sashes for Princess Charlotte and the girls. The best news: Pepa & Co. has just launched a collection inspired by these darling designs.

The Guests
This was one seriously chic crowd. We’d be remiss not to mention how handsome Prince William and Harry looked in their morning suits. And let’s not forget ladies and their hats—the Brits know how to do it up for a wedding and the headgear was absolutely on point, save one possible exception. James Middleton’s girlfriend TV presenter Donna Air not only wore a white fascinator but an off-white dress. How did she not know the golden rule of wedding guest dressing?!
