Penelope Cruz Named Chanel’s New Ambassador

Penelope Cruz, 44, has been tapped to become Chanel’s latest house ambassador, a list that includes fellow actresses Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart and Lily-Rose Depp. In addition to the new position, she will also appear in the brand’s upcoming 2018/2019 cruise campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld.  “To be in front of his camera is an adventure,” the Spanish actress told WWD. Cruz kicked off her ambassadorship earlier this week by attending Chanel’s haute couture show in Paris, where she donned a pink tweed dress, a matching pink purse and a white beret for the occasion.

Millie Bobby Brown Will Be the Face of Moncler’s Next Campaign

The pint-sized Stranger Things stars is quickly ascending to the status of a fashion it girl since she first appeared onscreen two years ago. The 14-year-old actress announced via Instagram that she will appear in the Italian heritage coat brand’s next ad campaign alongside a picture of her wearing a sleeveless puffer gown designed by Simone Rocha. The garment was designed as part of Moncler’s Genius project, in which eight designers created disparate capsule collections for the brand, unveiled in February of this year. (WWD)

 

A Christian Dior Exhibit is Coming to London’s Victoria & Albert Museum

Christian Dior will be the subject of the Victoria & Albert Museum’s next big fashion exhibition. “Christian Dior: Couturier of Dreams,” previously displayed at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs, will be adapted for the London museum to focus on Dior’s relationship with Britain, including his fascination with English gardens. The exhibit comes right on the heels of the Christian Dior exhibition that opened last year at the Royal Ontario Museum. The exhibition will open in February 2019 and is slated to be the Victoria & Albert’s largest fashion exhibition since “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”, which they displayed on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2015. Virgil Abloh Recreated His Entire Home Studio at the SSENSE Flagship Store in Montreal

“Cutting Room Floor,” an art installation by Virgil Abloh, opened at SSENSE’s Montreal flagship store earlier this week. The installation is an exact 1:1 replica of Abloh’s home studio in Chicago and offers up all of the personal objects he surrounds himself with on display for public consumption. “This project is literally about putting my brain on display, and showcases how chaotic and organized my creative process is. The viewer is a voyeur by design,” Abloh said in a statement. By providing a glimpse into Abloh’s creative process, the exhibition might offer clues of projects to come. Vacuum-sealed “facsimiles” of Abloh’s objects are available for purchase, as well as Off-White sneakers and Off White x Rimowa suitcases that have been autographed by Abloh himself. The installation is on display now until July 29th at 418 rue Saint-Sulpice, Montreal. (Press release)
