The Hottest New Pants Trend That Celebrities are Loving

Bottoms up! Forget skirts—trousers have swished onto the scene in a big way. From Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail to Katy Perry at last night’s Grammy Awards, pants are grabbing all the sartorial headlines these days—not to mention Instagram likes!

Skinny styles are still making the rounds, but this season paper-bag-waist pants (slouchy trousers with a cinched waistline, creating a ruffle effect) are popping up everywhere—from the runways (Hello, Stella McCartney spring 2017 collection) to IRL. Kylie Jenner has mastered the latter, recently posting a shot of herself on Instagram wearing a bustier and a pair of relaxed sweats featuring a super cinched paper bag waistline. The sexy athleisure look (“coming soon”) is part of the Jenner sisters’ Kendall and Kylie line.

Sienna Miller stepped out in faded red paper-bag-waist pants a few weeks ago. The Live by Night actress gave this menswear-inspired look her signature cool-girl twist with a nautical crew neck sweater (tucked-in), Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunnies and sky high platforms. Meanwhile, mega model Karlie Kloss stylishly navigated last week’s snow storm in New York en route to Calvin Klein’s fall 2017 ready-to-wear show in her own version of this look: a pair of black slouchy trousers with multiple ties at the waist teamed with a black Wolford bodysuit and a black belted topcoat thrown over her shoulders. Sexy, sophisticated and comfortable (gasp!), Kloss’s outfit said I heart New York.

Celeb moms are also tightening their grip on these super pants, which p.s. also have the ability to make you look a size or two smaller than you actually are (can I get an Amen?) because of the proportions and cinched waist. Chrissy Teigen took maternity dressing to a whole new (sexy) level, when she donned a pair of paper-bag-waist pants with a sheer lace top and a bra while pregnant with baby Luna in 2015. She wore this chic bump-baring look to The Hollywood Reporter Beauty Dinner, and made the best dressed list that evening. All throughout her pregnancy, Teigen was the #StyleTheBump poster girl. What’s the takeaway ladies? Get yourself a pair of paper-bag-waist pants and you, too, can magically morph into an It girl.
