Pantone announces 2018 Colour of the Year

It’s official: Pantone’s 2018 Colour of the Year is (drum roll please) “Ultra Violet.” Pantone says the “dramatically provocative and thoughtful” shade “communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points to the future” while Pantone vice president, Laurie Pressman, told the Associated Press the hue is “an optimistic colour, an empowering colour,” but also “speaks to thoughtfulness, a mystical quality, a spiritual quality.” (Associated Press)

Pat McGrath launches merch collection

Our obsession with merch is still going strong, and Pat McGrath is capitalizing on our love for fan apparel. The iconic makeup artist has released an eight-piece streetwear collection called #PMGApparel001 which includes a bomber jacket, T-shirts and a hoodie. Each piece is emblazoned with the Egyptian eye McGrath created for Maison Margiela by John Galliano’s fall 2015 show and has Pat McGrath Labs written on it. “I wanted to create a new, unisex way for people to love Labs without using cosmetics,” Pat told Vogue. The limited-edition collection will be available from Dec. 7 – 13 at PatMcGrath.com and Dover Street Market’s New York outpost with rices ranging from $60 to $400. (Vogue)

Tommy Hilfiger is heading to Milan Fashion Week. The American designer will be bringing his “TommyNow” (a.k.a. his “seen now, buy now”) spring 2018 runway show to Milan on February 25, 2018, just at the end of the Milan Fashion Week. Just like previous seasons, the TommyNow show will feature both the men’s and women’s collections along with the fourth and final Tommy x Gigi collaboration with Gigi Hadid. “My vision for TOMMYNOW was to create a global platform that we could take on tour to bring our show experience to new audiences around the world,” said Hilfiger in a press release. “It’s about the fusion of fashion, entertainment and pop culture with experiences, performances and inspiring interactions that are designed around our consumers. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, Milan is the perfect place to celebrate our next TOMMYNOW show.” (FASHION inbox)
