Moschino is releasing a Sims-inspired fashion collection

Your favourite video game to play as a pre-teen just got it’s own high-fashion reboot. Moschino’s new capsule collection inspired by The Sims –yes, you heard that correctly– will launch April 13. The totally out-of-this-world collection has models photoshopped into different hangouts from the game, and are dressed in 2D prints that gives the illusion of denim jackets, gold chains and buttons. Remember the green floating things above the avatar’s heads? That’s called a plumbomb, and there will be plumbomb prints and even earrings. This capsule collection just screams millennial nostalgia, and is being released just in time for Coachella.

Rodarte x Universal Standard have unveiled a new collab

Universal Standard was borne out of the vision that a woman should be able to try on, wear and buy a piece of clothing she loves, whether she is a size 00 or a size 40. Rodarte, known for their filmy gowns that cost upwards of thousands of dollars, isn’t the most natural collaboration for a basics brand but the collection does manage to translate Rodarte’s frilly flourishes into wardrobe of staple garments. The items are priced between $150 and $240 USD and can be purchased online.

Kotn pop-up shop to open in Montreal

The essentials brand Kotn has been winning the hearts of ethically-oriented consumers since 2015, specializing in high quality basics made from Egyptian Cotton — a sort of natural successor to American Apparel,  but without the creepy associations. The home-grown Canadian brand already has two permanent shops in Toronto and Vancouver, and they now plan on catering to a new market in Montreal. Kotn will opening a pop-up shop in at 5 Rue Saint Viateur E, from April 17 to May 14.

Elizabeth and James, the mid-market brand founded by The Row moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has announced an exclusive partnership with Kohl’s. The brand will be sold more accessibly at the nationwide American department store by the 2019 holiday season. The Olsen twins will still continue to direct the vision of the brand, which is named after the twins’ siblings, however design will be run out of the Kohl’s New York Design Office. “Our vision for Elizabeth and James is to deliver a lifestyle brand that offers women access to premium fashion at an affordable price without sacrificing quality and fit. Kohl’s is the right partner to take our brand into a new era, while staying true to the high-quality, fashion-forward designs that our loyal brand enthusiasts expect from us,” Mary-Kate Olsen told WWD. Canada Goose to open 6 new stores, including two in Europe

Canada Goose’s $1000 parkas have become quite the status symbol in recent years — not just in Canada but around the world. So it’s fitting that they have announced the arrival of six new retail stores, including two in Europe. The company, who currently operates 11 stores across North America, will open their first overseas store on Rue St. Honore Paris, France, and another on Via della Spiga in Milan, Italy. Closer to home, a store will be opening in The Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN, as well as in Toronto’s CF Sherway Gardens mall, the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, and another in Banff, Alberta.
