Meghan Markle Just Debuted the Ultimate Summer Look at Wimbledon

... it’s palazzo pants

Wimbledon, the oldest championship tennis tournament in the world, is always notable for its star-studded crowd, and this year its two most notable attendees happen to be Royals. Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stepped out this morning for their first joint Royal appearance as sister-in-laws in the tennis stands — close to Emma Watson, Kate Winslet and Woody Harrelson, no doubt to cheer on Markle’s good friend Serena Williams, who sadly lost her match.

Markle turned up to the event wearing a blue and white vertical striped button down top by Ralph Lauren paired with blindingly white silk palazzo pants, also by Ralph Lauren. Her hair was swept up in a gentle updo with wisps that curled near her face, reminiscent of her wedding hairdo. Some critics have brayed about Markle ‘going soft’ in the fashion department, trading her formerly ‘edgy’ style (ooooohh ripped jeans, how punk) for an uptight uniform to help ease her transition into ‘The Firm.’ But in this perfect summer outfit, with its crisp top and flowy pants that you can practically feel the air circulating in, Markle shows that she hasn’t lost her edge just yet.

Middleton too, showed up to the match in an edgier-than-usual outfit. She wore a feminine white tea dress with a dotty pattern that resembled coffee beans, or perhaps hamburgers. The dress was an excitingly out-of-character choice for the Duchess of Cambridge, who usually favours solid colours over prints.

Is this the beginning of a new buddy comedy featuring the Royal wives? Are Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton the new Thelma and Louise?  Only time will tell…
