Legendary Retailer Jonathan+Olivia Closing Store in Toronto After 10 Years

After a decade of being Toronto’s go-to shop for fashion-forward designers, Jonathan+Olivia is packing its bags and heading west.

Co-owned by husband and wife duo Jackie O’Brien Jones and Nic Jones, the brand opened in Toronto in 2008 when the duo set up shop at 49 Ossington Avenue, becoming one of the first stores there long before Ossington was known for being super hip. Since then, they’ve steadily built their legacy of quality customer service and carefully curated clothing selections for both men and women, quickly becoming known as a haven for contemporary fashion brands like Acne Studios and Isabel Marant.

An open and heartfelt statement was uploaded to social media explaining: “As many of you may or may not know, Jackie O’Brien Jones first opened Jonathan+Olivia in Vancouver back in 2005 with the Toronto store opening in 2008, but now her heart is calling her home and her family is jumping into a new adventure in Whistler, BC.”

“Toronto is where we had our beautiful boy and watched him grow up. We are grateful for our ten years here and for all the wonderful friends and clients who came on the journey with us. But not to worry, just because we are headed west, doesn’t mean we won’t be delivering an immersive and innovative e-commerce shop for our east coast fans. We also look forward to meeting our new crew out west and some surprise visits for our Toronto folks as well”, says Jones.

Although their Ossington location will officially close its doors on July 5th, the owners aren’t departing without leaving behind a sentimental gift for their Toronto customers. “Both Nic and Jackie have been in this game for a very long time and while on the ride, they have amassed a personal collection of pieces that is rather special- and never for sale,” says Jonathan+Olivia. “Until now.”

The Jonathan+Olivia archives sale, featuring specially curated items, is happening in Toronto on July 3 and 4, in addition to a storewide sale before closing.
