La Double J Just Launched a Bold Handbag Collection

New totes, backpacks and more come in a variety of the brand’s signature prints.

Hold it right there! Milan-based line La Double J now offers a range of bags to suit any schedule, from a work day to when you’re OOO. A tote dubbed the Big Mama bag is outsized, unstructured and meant to cart around anything from a beach towel to gym gear; it’s smaller counterpart comes with both top handles and a shoulder strap to suit your on-the-go needs. Go-go is a jaunty cross-body with an exterior pocket and interior card holder; if you expect versatility from your wardrobe purchases, the brand suggests removing the strap to use it as a pouch in a larger bag.

Most of the new bags come in several different print options, while the adorable nylon Hand Pochette clutch is available in a whopping 46 styles from animal print to florals to abstract designs. Best of all, it has a handle across its side that lets you slide your bag on to your wrist. No fuss, no muss.

Since launching in 2015, La Double J, founded by former editor J.J. Martin, has grown from being a vintage-lead business to also offering new apparel, outerwear, loungewear and home décor. The brand has garnered a cult following thanks to its use of archival prints sourced by one of Lake Como’s oldest silk producers, Mantero Seta; some of the designs date back to the 1700s, while others have a distinct op-op aesthetic popularized in the 1960s.

The Big Mama is additionally offered with illustrations that are part of La Double J’s Goddess collection; if you need a little divine intervention, consider rocking a tote emblazoned with depictions of Athena (Goddess of wisdom) or Persephone (Goddess of vegetation and also co-ruler of the Underworld along with her husband, Hades).

Now that it’s checked handbags off the list, we can’t wait to see what the brand lends its quirky flair to next.
