After a morning of delays and disappointing cancellations due to the torrential downpour, Prince William and Kate Middleton have finally arrived in Bella Bella. Leaving the royal kiddies behind again (why?!?), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed north of Vancouver Island this afternoon to the small Indigenous community of 1,600 people. Bella Bella has been in the news lately in regards to its threatening suicide rate, and we’re not surprised to see that the small town is on the couple’s itinerary, since mental health is of great importance to the Cambridges. The royal duo was warmly greeted by the Heiltsuk First Nations community, which included a youth performance at the centre.

So what does Kate wear on a rainy day? After being snapped in tailored dresses, the Duchess dressed down for today’s engagements. (She has yet to wear a Canadian designer, though.) But given today’s weather, we’re in a forgiving mood. Because honestly, a safari jacket (by Holland & Holland), a pair of jeans (from Zara), knee-high boots (by Penelope Chilvers) and gold earrings (by Quebec-born, London-based jewellery designer Pippa Small) is the perfect combo for a gloomy day like today—even for a royal.

Don’t forget to come back for updates later. With today’s itinerary finishing off with an evening reception in Victoria at the Government House, you really don’t want to miss what Kate will wear for one of the few formal nights during the Royal Visit Canada tour. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
