Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Both Opt For Massimo Dutti Coats

So it's probably time to add one to your wardrobe.

Whilst Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle always looks amazing, there’s typically very little crossover in their go-to brands. Kate tends to stick to Alexander McQueen, Aspinal and Emilia Wickstead, whereas Meghan has a pretty steady roster of Canadian brands she opts for on the reg like Sentaler and Aritzia. There’s been a few crossovers, of course, like Smythe for example, and the pair are currently sharing a love for contemporary brand, Massimo Dutti.

In the past 24 hours, both duchesses have been spotted in coats from the Spanish brand – so you know it’s on to something good. This morning, the Sussex Royal Instagram account shared two photos of Meghan during a visit to animal charity Mayhew, for whom she is a patron, earlier this month. In the photos, Meghan can be seen wearing a navy mid-length coat with tie detailing at the waist. The coat is currently available to buy in Canada for $499 (there’s also a very similar looking button-up version that’s currently on sale for $129). For the outing, Meghan teamed the piece with a white and blue striped shirt and black trousers.

Then, mere hours later, Kate attended an event in Cardiff, wearing a tan coat from the brand. She paired the wear-forever piece with a wool polo neck and a pleated skirt from Zara (which we’re seeing a lot more of on her of late). The exact piece is the double-breasted button coat that is part of the brand’s limited edition collection and is not currently available on the brand’s Canadian website.

Today The Duchess of Cambridge visited HMP Send to talk to some of the women she met during a visit to the prison in 2015 — who have since been successfully rehabilitated, released and are rebuilding their families, in addition to women currently at the prison. The Duchess heard about the work that the Forward Trust do at the prison in supporting clients to improve their relationships with friends and family, including reconnecting with children. Among those that The Duchess spoke with today was Kirsty, who she first met in 2015. Kirsty spent her childhood in and out of the care system. Following a series of adverse experiences, she turned to substance misuse and began a 10-year cycle of addiction and reoffending: • “While serving my sentence, I woke up one day and realised enough was enough. • I took myself to my drug and alcohol worker and asked for help. I was lucky enough to be sent to HMP Send for a fresh start. • The programme changed my life. In some of my darkest moments since, I have never turned back to drugs.” • What we experience in the earliest years – from in the womb to the age of five – is instrumental in shaping our future lives. The Duchess of Cambridge has spent time meeting with families across the country and hearing about the issues they deal with day-to-day, in addition to speaking with academics, experts, organisations and practitioners. It seems the appeal of the pieces is their infinite wearability – block colours of navy and camel are timeless choices, and wool is essential to surviving chilly days here in the North when you’re sick of wearing your puffer jacket.
