Vancouver’s media and fashion folk clamoured into Topshop’s glossy new Granville Street location in the basement of the Bay yesterday, taking tours through the almost maze-like black mirrored space as they absorbed the many and varied sections the British export had on offer. From mod silhouettes to a Scandinavian-meets-military line to the fast fashion retailer’s exclusive collaboration with J.W. Anderson, the sheer number of covetable pieces was almost overwhelming. And then, there was the shoe wall—any red-blooded woman alive would experience a flutter of heart palpitations upon walking into the sleek space, where studded fall-apropos suede booties took up residence alongside futuristic powder pink and gold heels.

A plush personal shopping sanctuary is situated just a hop, skip and a jump away from the shoe wall as well, with couches, treats and professional styling help on hand for shoppers. What’s more, the service is complimentary—fun packages like TopShop’s mother-daughter personal shopping experience are also available. Stylish revellers from Jen Tam and Alicia Quan of our very own Style Panel to Shaw TV’s Mana Mansour to Reiko Mackenzie of Real Housewives of Vancouver fame popped over to Fivesixty nightclub later in the evening for the after-party, which capped off the daylong festivities with a rousing performance from Montreal’s always-stylish Metric. The store, which is the largest international store in the Topshop Topman family thus far, was just unveiled to the public this morning in a red ribbon cutting ceremony by the Bay’s president Bonnie Brooks, with some star power help courtesy of model Heather Marks and 90210 star Shanae Grimes.
