In what might possibly be the splashiest territory marker yet, Hudson’s Bay has staked another claim in Canada’s ever-growing luxury market by announcing it will present the first international exhibit of Isabella Blow’s personal collection of fashion and art. The collection, which previously was on view at London’s Somerset House last year, features pieces from the many designers discovered by Blow including Alexander McQueen, Phillip Treacy and Hussein Chalayan and will be on view for a short 16 days beginning October 23, 2014.

Fashion Blows will kick off with a glitzy fundraising event hosted by Brit fashion goddess (and heir to the Blow throne) Daphne Guinness and Hudson’s Bay president Liz Rodbell on October 22, benefitting the Brit-based Isabella Blow Foundation and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. To boot, the funds raised will sponsor a Canadian fashion student to join the MA program at Central Saint Martins, the lauded alma mater of McQueen and others.

“Hudson’s Bay is committed to delivering unique experiences to our customers and to enhancing the communities in which we do business,” said Rodbell, who also acts as honourary co-chair, Fashion Blows. “We are honoured to partner with The Isabella Blow Foundation to support our common objectives of fostering Canadian design talent and supporting mental health charities.  To stage this first international fundraising event and exhibition at The Room at Hudson’s Bay, an environment where fashion is celebrated every day, is a privilege.”
