Kaia Gerber Stars in Chanel’s New Handbag Campaign
Kaia Gerber’s fashion ascent continues. For the 2018 Chanel handbag campaign, Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld personally photographed Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, in Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment. And in doing so, not only does Lagerfeld pay homage to the house’s heritage, he also highlights timeless pieces suitable for any era, style or generation: Even an already-famous, modeling millennial.
The French luxury house has always made accessories an essential part of the Chanel aesthetic. Let’s face it, a gorgeous Chanel cuff or sunglasses is worth every single penny spent. But in a Chanel press release, the company draws special attention to its handbag legacy saying, “The Chanel handbag is an icon, a pure concentrate of dreams, of history, of luxury meticulously fashioned.”
Of course Gerber is the perfect ambassador as she effortlessly poses on Chanel’s fawn suede sofa and quilted cushions. It’s fitting given that Coco Chanel herself was captured in this very location with many close friends and loved ones. Images like these show that Chanel continues to evolve with the times (and faces), while staying true to its history.
