Canada Goose Has Made a Jacket Inspired by Toronto

The brand has called the city home for more than 60 years.

There’s no denying that winter is here. And whilst that’s rarely a fact to celebrate, Canada Goose is giving Torontonians a very stylish reason to head outdoors this season. Launching tomorrow, the brand has designed a limited edition jacket inspired by Toronto.

The luxury outerwear company has a special relationship with the city, having been founded here over 60 years ago. Today, its factories are still found here.

The Toronto jacket ($1,495) is available in white for women and navy for men (inspired by the Toronto flag), and includes a 3-in-1 design to help combat all “unpredictable” elements of the Canadian winter. This includes a down-filled outer shell and a removable lightweight down inner shell. The jackets also have a TTC pass pocket for easy commuting, reflective detailing for safety and a grab strap on the back printed with the word Toronto.

To fete the launch of the jacket, the brand is also offering a gift with purchase for the very first time – if you pre-order the jacket today (either online or at the Yorkdale or Sherway Gardens stores), you’ll get a limited-edition PRESTO card and a toque to go along with your jacket.

On why the brand wanted to design this piece for Toronto, Karuna Scheinfeld, the VP of Design at Canada Goose, said, “Canada Goose is a Canadian brand, but its home town is Toronto. To this day, Canada Goose continues to proudly call Toronto home and still designs, manufactures and sells products in this global hub, so it felt natural that we would create a jacket as an homage to our home town. When we decided to make the Toronto Jacket, the first thing we did was interview Dani Reiss, born and bred Torontonian, our CEO and third generation of the CG founding family. In our conversation we identified three main ideas that fuelled the design: the weather, commuting and looking good while braving both. We built the jacket to function effortlessly in the ever-changing Toronto weather. Something that is easy to wear in the city whether commuting by train, bus, car or foot, and a design that would be warm and versatile to all the eclectic style and diversity that we experience in Toronto.”

The launch of the Toronto jacket follows the brand’s latest collaboration with OVO.
