This Makeup Artist’s Work is Raising Awareness About Her Skin Condition

By now, thanks to model Winnie Harlow‘s outspokenness and honesty about her skin condition, you’ve probably heard of vitiligo, the skin condition that causes skin to lose pigment in certain areas.

Now, 25-year-old makeup artist Lauren Elyse is raising awareness about the condition using social media. Her Instagram account, which has almost 300,000 followers, features daily makeup looks from the Chicago-based artist, which highlight her vitiligo, rather than cover it up.

The skin around Elyse’s eyes is affected, so you better believe she highlights it by serving some killer eyeshadow looks.

Although I wasn't able to participate in Chicago, knowing that so many people globally marched in solidarity with women made me so happy. I truly believe women, in general, need to be supportive and encouraging to their fellow women (trans, cis, disabled, of color, etc) instead of trying to tear them down over petty, insignificant things. And I believe that humans need to be better to one another, overall.
