L’Oréal to Produce and Distribute Hand Sanitizer
The beauty giant has announced big plans to help combat Covid-19.
As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep much of the world, big businesses are stepping in to help wherever possible. Earlier this week, luxury fashion conglomerate LVMH announced it had turned its luxury beauty production facilities into hand sanitizer production sites, and now beauty giant L’Oréal has also announced it will help alleviate the hand sanitizer shortage in Europe.
According to WWD, a statement from Jean-Paul Agon, L’Oréal chairman and chief executive officer, read, “In this exceptional crisis situation it is our responsibility to contribute in every possible way to the collective effort. Through these gestures, L’Oréal wishes to express its appreciation, support and solidarity with all those who mobilize with extraordinary courage and abnegation to fight against this pandemic.”
The gestures include producing hand sanitizer in its factories at an increased rate to help support French and European health authorities, La Roche-Posay will provide hydro-alcoholic gel to hospitals, nursing homes and pharmacies across Europe, Garnier is to offer millions of units of hand sanitizer to its employees in the food distribution sector and the company will freeze all payables from small and medium business accounts until business resumes as usual. It is also donating one million euros (approx. CAD$1.5 million) to its various associations to help distribute hygiene kits to social workers, volunteers and beneficiaries.
