How to wear glitter: 3 Beauty Panel tips for making the look appropriate for daytime

When it comes to winter beauty, glitter is a must-have. Who can resist a little sparkle when the weather outside is so dark and gloomy? Glitter and sequins are a no-brainer for cocktail parties, but the tricky part is learning how to pull off the look for daytime. We asked our Beauty Panel to show us how they make glitter suitable for day, and even office-appropriate.

Glitter is something that I love on any and everything. When it comes to eye makeup, I would love to just have it everywhere, but for now I will be an adult and keep it classy. I love a good smoky eye with a touch of sparkle. To create the look below, I started off my filling in my brows, making them much bolder. After priming my eyes, I covered my entire lid with a shimmery grey eyeshadow called Gunmetal from the Urban Decay Naked Palette and smoked out the outer third of my lid with Creep from the same palette.

I lined my lower waterline with a gel liner that I KNOW will last: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer and my upper lash line with NYX The Curve Liquid Eyeliner. Next came the glitter! Taking my Sephora Collection Glitter Eyeliner and Mascara in VIP Gold, I slowly lined my lower lash line until I had just enough gold. A dabbing motion helps. I finished the eyes with false lashes from Shu Uemura that make the eyes just POP!

Since the eyes were so bold, I kept my face fairly neutral with a shimmery blush from the Urban Decay Flushed palette and glossy lips with a hint of gold glitter.

I am loving this look for upcoming holiday parties and since a grey smoky eye goes with every shade of glitter, you can have some fun with various colours of glitter and match your glitter to your outfit!

I love to pep up a bold lip colour by patting some gold glittery eyeshadow into it. Focus on the centre of the lips for an ombré look and leave as is or lightly top with clear gloss! I love this look with a red lip, especially for holiday parties as I find it’s a great twist on a classic as well as looks a bit unexpected without being over the top. For best results, pack on the glitter by dipping your ring finger in your shadow of choice, no need to fuss with brushes here!
