The Beauty Products We’ll Be Using All Month Long

Olio E Osso Balm in “Berry”
When summer hits and my skin is moist and slightly sticky from my judicious daily application of sunscreen, a powder blush is a nightmare, grabbing on to tacky spots. This shea butter nut oil-based tinted balm is the ideal substitute for a sheer wash of colour. Plus it’s adorably compact and user friendly; no contact with hands or fingers required to get a lovely flush.
Skinfix Renewing Scrub
I’m obsessed with everything about summer (no, really: everything. When I heard Toronto was going to experience a heat wave last weekend, I planned an outdoor picnic so I wouldn’t miss any of it). So while each year, I count down the days until I can reveal my sunscreen-stained sundress lewks, in the back of my head I’m secretly dreading one thing: baring my keratosis pillaris-plagued arms. Ugh. Otherwise known as chicken skin (charming, I know), KP is a common skin condition that causes tiny red bumps on the back of arms. They don’t hurt or peel or itch or anything, really. They’re just…always there. Or should I say, they were. I’ve tried a million and one physical and chemical exfoliators over the years, but none made enough of a different for me to keep up with them, until a neon green bottle of Skinfix’s Renewing Scrub appeared on my desk last month. I’ve been using the pre-shower scrub every other day, and thanks to its blend of bamboo polishers with Australian lime pearl extract (biodegradable, btw!), lactic acid and 5% glycolic acid, I’ve seen a major reduction in the little bumps. There’s also a combo of grape seed, sweet almond and coconut oils in the formula, so it’s not drying. Is it the sexiest beauty product in the world? No. But if you have KP like me, it’s a lifesaver. —S.M.
