It’s back, everyone! Toronto’s annual Field Trip Music & Arts Festival will be taking place at Fort York and Garrison Common on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, and we can’t wait! In addition to being the city’s best family-friendly festival, Field Trip also happens to be one of the most stylish events that goes down annually.
Now in its fourth year, Field Trip 2016 will include performances by Robyn, The National, Ra Ra Riot, Santigold, DIIV and more. New this time around is a handful of programs that extends beyond the live music, which will ensure every festival-goer, no matter what age, has a great time.
If you’re worried about your kids throwing a mid-afternoon tantrum, have no fear. This year’s expanded Day Camp area offers your mini-me’s a place to indulge in some bouncy castle and hula hoop fun. Also worth checking out is the Mess Hall in Garrison Woods, where kids can partake in watermelon-eating contests and cupcake decorating. If you’re up for the challenge, you can even gather the squad to take on a massive sub-sandwich-eating competition.
If bouncy castles and desserts aren’t your thing, the Laugh Barracks comedy stage is back again this year, featuring a roster of local comedians (as well as generally hilarious people), such as The Crimson Wave and Rapp Battlez, should you need a moment to catch up on some LOLz. There will also be a ton of art, thanks to the Analogue Gallery’s Sound Image Exhibition, as well as a marketplace filled with local vendors. And then there’s the food. With more than 20 vendors to choose from, such as Buster’s Sea Cove, Fidel Gastro and Steel Cut Coffee, this truly is the perfect festival.
