Move over, Lana Del Rey, looks like another Stargirl is about to collab with Starboy.
Rumours are swirling that Selena Gomez will be collaborating on new music with her beau, The Weeknd, which is obviously some v.exciting news for Abelena shippers everywhere.
According to Elle U.K., it all started when fans spotted Gomez’s upcoming single, “In Her Element,” under the discography section of producer Max Martin’s Wikipedia page. Nicki Minaj, Julia Michaels (yes, the girl who sings “Issues”), Justin Tranter and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder were listed as songwriters of the track, with The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) listed as a ~*featured*~ artist.
Cue the screams.
Now, given that Wikipedia can’t always be trusted, and the fact that the listing is no longer on Martin’s page, this could very well be fake news. But still, a Weeknd x Selena track is bound to be a good one. And considering Gomez’s latest track, “Bad Liar,” is most likely about Abel (songwriter Justin Tranter corrected a fan on Twitter who thought it was about Selena’s ex, Justin Bieber, writing “You got some of the lyrics wrong, and it’s actually about trying to hide magic feelings for someone new, but not being able to,” and adding an “Xo,” which also happens to be The Weeknd’s record label), we have a feeling it’ll be the perfect love song for the modern age.
