Confirmed: Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Have Left Canada for the US

Following a tweet from Donald Trump.

Last week, rumours emerged that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had left their temporary home on Vancouver Island and relocated to the US. People reported that the pair, along with son Archie, had moved to Los Angeles (ahead of the Canada/US borders closures) and were living in “a secluded compound and haven’t ventured out amid the coronavirus pandemic.”

At the time, the site simply pointed to royal sources to confirm the news, however a representative for the Sussex family officially confirmed the news yesterday following a tweet from President Donald Trump, of all people.

Admist the coronavirus pandemic currently sweeping the world and his country, Trump took time out of his schedule yesterday to tweet that Americans would not cover the cost of Meghan and Harry’s security bill while they were living on US soil. He wrote, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the US, however the US will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

In response to the tweet, ITV’s Chris Ship shared that a member of the Sussexes team told him that “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

The move to Los Angeles comes as no surprise given that Meghan used to live in the city, and it’s where her mother Doria Ragland currently resides.

The pair officially suspend their royal lives for the next 12 months as of tomorrow. Meghan’s first post-royal role was confirmed last week, with Disney + announcing that she has narrated its upcoming Disney Nature film, Elephant. The Duchess undertook the project in order to donate her earnings to elephant conservation charity, Elephants Without Borders. The organization took to Twitter to praise Meghan for her work on the film, and the pair for their commitment to the cause. In a post, they wrote, “Harry and Meghan’s dedication to conservation is inspiring. Together, we will continue to work to conserve Africa’s natural heritage, with a focus on empowering the people who coexist with elephants. Everyone at EWB is grateful for their friendship and their unwavering support of our efforts to conserve this iconic species.”
