Our November Cover Girl Tatiana Maslany Wins Best Actress at the 2016 Emmys!

ICYMI, our November cover girl, Tatiana Maslany, just took home the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. This is her first win (but her second nomination) for her role in Orphan Black, which is filmed in Toronto. In it, she plays lead character Sarah Manning as well as a number of clones, including a transgender man, a psychopath and a soccer mom.

Thirty-year-old, Regina-born Maslany was in town last week to premiere her new film, Two Lovers and a Bear, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The romantic drama, which was partially shot in Iqaluit, exposes the Canadian Arctic and a romance with a man named Roman (played by Dane DeHaan) as well as romantic and personal turmoil. Maslany and DeHaan celebrated their film premiere alongside FASHION and Men’s FASHION this past Thursday at Toronto’s Aperture Room, where guests mingled among the co-stars and posed for photos, nibbled on snacks and enjoyed some drinks.

It was a well-deserved win for Maslany, who was up against Viola Davis, Claire Danes, Robin Wright, Taraji P. Henson and Keri Russell. It makes sense that she did beat out all these talented actors when you consider that Maslany had to not only navigate between multiple characters (instead of playing just one), but also take on various accents. She had our vote all along.

Bravo, Tatiana. And stay tuned to read more about her in the coming weeks as we reveal more from our cover shoot.
