It’s been a long, long hiatus since The Pussycat Dolls’ 2008 album Doll Domination, but the band is back over a decade later with a brand new single titled “React.” “Returning to the Dolls has been a complete 180 that has brought back all the good and elevated our work to another level,” lead singer Nicole Scherzinger said in a statement. “We are women who are on the other side of a lot of life experiences — it has given us so much perspective and growth. Well, the sixth Friend caved and now they’re all on Instagram. This week, Lisa Kudrow shared the happy news by posting a throwback of her and Perry from a decades-old showbiz event. “Finally!!! Yay!! Can’t believe my eyes MY EYES. Welcome to Instagram @mattyperry4 #friendsforlife” she captioned the photo. Jennifer Aniston also joined in, sharing a photo of her own, with a caption that served as a nod to one of the very best episodes of Friends: “I’m shocked Matty is the last to join Instagram, considering he was a uh… umm….oh crap ??♀️ Oh! Jessica Simpson released a memoir
In a memoir that came out on February 4, popstar Jessica Simpson lays bare the truth of her life in the spotlight. Titled Open Book, the autobiography touches on personal details such as the sexual abuse she suffered at the age of six, her marriage to Nick Lachey, her struggles with body image and her on-off relationship with John Mayer. In an excerpt from the book’s prologue, published in Glamour, she writes, “Maxi [her daughter] is one of the reasons I am writing this book. It’s also a commitment I’ve made to you, though it’s hard sometimes to look back on some moments in my life that I spent years, okay, decades, trying to forget. For me, sitting down here with a piece of paper and a pen is like, “Hello, self! What are we gonna confront tonight?””
Jameela Jamil came out as queer
After facing intense backlash when it was announced that she would be one of the judges on HBO’s upcoming reality series about voguing and ballroom culture, which has historically been led by queer people of colour, actress Jameela Jamil came out as queer on Twitter. “I added a rainbow to my name when I felt ready a few years ago, as it’s not easy within the south Asian community to be accepted, and I always answered honestly if ever straight up asked about it on Twitter,” she wrote in a lengthy post. “But I kept it low because I was scared of the pain of being accused of performative bandwagon jumping, over something that caused me a lot of confusion, fear and turmoil when I was a kid.” She went on to add: “I know that being queer doesn’t qualify me as ballroom. But I have privilege and power and a large following to bring this show (as does the absolutely iconic Megan Thee Stallion) and its beautiful contestants and ballroom hosts.”
