If someone said that all you had to do was walk through a frozen tundra to buy an original Basquiat for something like $75, you’d probably do it, right? Well, that was the idea at last night’s kick off of the Artist Project, an annual contemporary art fair allowing attendees to purchase pieces direct from over 15,000 emerging talents. Located in the depths of Toronto’s Exhibition grounds at the Better Living Centre, trekking to the event was like a multi-pronged insult, seeing as the blustery grounds also hold some of summer’s fondest cotton candy stalls each August. But I digress…

At last night’s kick off party, conveniently stylish art lovers perused works by local artists Bruno Billo, Nicole Charles and my new personal favourite, 15-year-old illustrator Meghan Farbridge (pictured above).

If you’re looking to get in on the action (and you should!), the Artist Project runs through this Sunday, February 22. For more information, visit theartistproject.com.
