Oprah Just Launched a Free TV Show About COVID-19 on Apple TV+

"How can we mindfully move through a crisis while holding on to ourselves and our humanity?"

In times of crisis, what people yearn for more than anything is a calm, competent voice sharing words of wisdom. Luckily for everyone, Oprah Winfrey is stepping in to take on that role as we grapple with the threat of the ever-growing coronavirus pandemic.

Oprah Talks COVID-19 is a new weekly series from the talk show host offering timely conversations amid the coronavirus as well as “insight, meaning, and tangible advice for the human spirit.” For her first episode, Winfrey speaks with actor Idris Elba (who tested positive for COVID-19 last week) and his wife, Sabrina.

“I know a lot of people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and uncertain,” Winfrey shared on social media. “Because of that, I wanted to offer some hope and gather thought leaders and people going through it to add some perspective. Which is why I FaceTimed Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina who are safely quarantined together after he tested positive for COVID-19. Idris fills me in on his journey and Sabrina reveals the result of her test after they decided to quarantine together.”

For the second episode, which dropped today, Winfrey shared a conversation with her longtime friend Pastor Wintley Phipps. Throughout the series, Winfrey will continue to have remote conversations with experts and people facing challenges caused by the pandemic.

“How can we mindfully move through a crisis while holding on to ourselves and our humanity?” is one of many questions Winfrey hopes to address through this weekly show. Viewers in more than 100 countries can stream Oprah Talks COVID-19 for free on Apple TV+, in the Apple TV app or on the website, with or without a subscription.
