Mischa Barton Hospitalized Again After Psychotic Episode

Mischa Barton has been hospitalized after neighbours witnessed the star’s unusual behaviour Thursday, TMZ reported.

Barton, commonly known for her part in the O.C. and Dancing with the Stars, is undergoing a mental health evaluation at the hospital after a disturbing episode in her backyard.

TMZ says the dishevelled 31-year-old was clad in an oversized white dress shirt and a tie. She was heard rambling about the world shattering, her mother being a witch and Ziggy Stardust—her Pomeranian-Shih Tzu.

Firefighters and the police department were alerted of a possible overdose or a jumper. When they arrived, the overnight It-girl was voluntarily taken to the hospital, where an update has not yet been released.

This isn’t the first time Barton has dealt with a situation like this.

After leaving the O.C. at its prime back in 2006, Barton told PEOPLE that she just needed space from Hollywood for self-exploration. Following her departure from the show, her life began to spiral into chaos. A DUI drug possession in 2007 made the actress move back to London, but that wasn’t the end of her struggles.

Two years later, the actress was involuntarily taken to and held at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre for a psychiatric evaluation after being seen as a threat to herself and others. She describes this period as a full on “freak out.”

“I was under enormous pressure,” she told PEOPLE.
