Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon Busk to ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ in New York Subway

In disguise, no less!

For a celebrity like Miley Cyrus, it’s hard to imagine there’s still some firsts she has yet to experience in her life, especially since she’s done a lot of crazy things in the past few years alone. However, on the latest taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Nashville-based singer admitted that her latest stunt with the host allowed her to finally check being in a New York subway off her bucket list.

On the eve of the taping, Jimmy Fallon and the “Malibu” singer went undercover at 42nd Street subway station, which is right under the Rockerfeller Centre (in other words, a high-traffic zone) and busked to some classic hits.

“That was my first subway experience and I will always remember it,” Cyrus said on the show. “I don’t think it’s like anyone else’s first time.”

Dressed in your average country singer get-up, Cyrus and Fallon gave themselves new identities, Charlene and Bart, with the help of wigs, sunglasses and cowboy hats. However, no disguise could hide that distinct husky voice booming on the subway platform. Within the first verse of Miley’s rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” curious commuters whipped out their phones to document the impromptu show.

Clearly seeing their disguises couldn’t fool anyone (although, many thought Fallon was Billy Ray Cyrus), the undercover busking duo took off their wigs and busted out the singer-songwriter’s classic, “Party in the U.S.A,” while Fallon sang back-up vocals and played the tambourine.

“I haven’t been playing ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ for a while now since my Bangerz tour,” explains the songstress. “I had just done the gay pride parade the day before and so ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ has been giving a lot of love and it’s always good for me to remember how much people really love those classic songs and it inspires me to do them more. It makes me re-love my songs because I love how much people love them.”
