Know An Extraordinary Woman Serving Her Community? Send Her L’Oréal’s Way

L’Oréal Paris is now in its third year of celebrating female philanthropists and community leaders making a difference both within their own communities and beyond. And to find these “Women of Worth,” it’s putting out a call for action to Canadians everywhere: nominate a female volunteer, philanthropist or change-maker and give her a shot at receiving a $10,000 charitable grant for her cause, as well as the chance to be honoured at an awards gala in Toronto on International Women’s Day (March 8).

Last year, some of the Canadian women honoured by L’Oréal ambassador Dame Helen Mirren at the Women of Worth gala included Hazar Mahayni, whose Montreal-based charity, Syrian Kids Foundation, offers education, humanitarian relief and social services to Syrian refugee children; Stachen Frederick, whose organization BrAIDS for AIDs works towards building HIV/AIDS awareness programs and prevention programs in the African Caribbean and Black Communities across Canada and internationally; and Dr Jane Vermeulen, who provides free veterinary care to the pets of homeless and low-income people in Victoria, BC through her clinic Vets for Pets.

Nominations for next year’s Women of Worth are open until January 8, 2019. In February, the nominees will be announced and Canadians will be able to vote for a national honouree who will win an additional $10,000 grant for her charitable cause. Head to WomenOfWorth.ca if you know of (or are!) a woman who fits the bill.
