The Trailer for JLo’s New Film Looks Pretty Great

The Queen of Rom-Coms is back

Is it the early 2000s? Because JLo’s back with another feel-good rom-com! The film, titled Second Act, is about a street-smart 40-year-old woman working a dead-end job at a big-box store, who fakes her way to a sweet corporate gig. Like, corner office in a fancy New York highrise-sweet. Think Working Girl meets Maid in Manhattan.

A fake Wharton degree, doctored photos with the Obamas, and a made-up stint with the Peace Corps may have had a little something to do with it, but as her instantly-lovable BFF Leah Remini reminds her in the trailer, “A lie got you in the door, but you got the job.” And of course, JLo’s character Maya rises to the challenge, proving a) that you don’t always need a fancy college degree to make it to the top, and b) it’s never too late to try to turn your life around, even if you are a woman ‘of a certain age.’

“There are so many things I love about this project and script,” Lopez said about the film, according to Variety. “People try to put women to sleep at a certain age. Second Act is a story that empowers the every woman to do more, to be more, and not limit their dreams.”

The film also stars Milo Ventimiglia and Vanessa Hudgens. You can watch the trailer here:
