A New Book About Harry and Meghan Promises to Go Beyond the Headlines

There’s been so much written about Harry and Meghan over the past few years, it can feel as if we know everything there is to know about the royal couple. But of course, the salacious headlines and the real story are two very different things. This summer, two veteran royal reporters are coming together to publish a book about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, titled FINDING FREEDOM: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, that promises a true insider look at the royals’ lives.
According to the press release from HarperCollins Publishers, which will be releasing the book in August 2020, Finding Freedom “goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumours and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond.”

Royal watchers will recognize the authors’ names: based in London, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have both been covering the British royal family for years, and are part of the select group of journalists that travels with the royals for official engagements. Scobie is royal editor for Harper’s Bazaar and host of ABC’s royal podcast, “The Heir Pod.” Durand, meanwhile, is an Emmy Award-winning producer and writer who has been covering the royals for nearly two decades, and is a contributor to O, The Oprah Magazine and Elle among other publications.
“The aim of this book is to portray the real Harry and Meghan, a couple who continue to inspire many around the world through their humanitarian and charitable work but are often inaccurately portrayed,” say Scobie and Durand in the press release. “Our mission has been motivated by a desire to tell an accurate version of their journey and finally present the truth of misreported stories that have become gospel simply because of the amount of times they have been repeated. Reportedly written with “unique access” and “with the participation of those closest to the couple,” Finding Freedom is sure to offer an up-close and personal portrait of Harry and Meghan, who have in recent months shunned the spotlight in an effort to continue their charitable and philanthropic work without the relentless scrutiny that comes with their royal titles.
