Stop what you’re doing. Halsey just surprised us all by releasing her latest single, Now or Never, from her second studio album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, which is due out in June. With it came an unsettling music video that marked the synth-pop artist’s directorial debut.
Shot in Mexico, the video stars Halsey and the young (and hunky) model Don Lee in a narrative of two lovers forbidden to be together. Sound familiar? With gold medallions, crosses and angel wings, the singer’s latest music video is giving off serious Romeo + Juliet vibes.
“On its own the song is about two impatient young lovers,” says the singer in Rolling Stone. “But in the context of the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom universe, the stakes are much higher for these two star-crossed lovers.”
