It’s finally the weekend. And what better way to celebrate that with a round-up of this week’s buzziest controversies? From Oprah’s third arm to Nutella riots, here’s everything that’s shaking the web.

The Photoshop fails on the cover of Vanity Fair

THE STORY: Vanity Fair‘s Hollywood issue this year stars some of our favourite industry elite: Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, Gal Gadot and Harrison Ford pose in red carpet attire for famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. But a few *extra* elements in the photographs have caught the Internet’s attention.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: This was clearly a publicity stunt from Vanity Fair, right? The leg thing I understand — it’s probably a shadow from the dress — but there’s no way they ‘accidentally’ gave Oprah a third hand. And good on them, because the stunt worked! This star-studded magazine cover is the most divisive optical illusion since the black and blue vs white and gold dress debate.

Ivanka Trump changed her Twitter bio

THE STORY: Here’s what the First Daughter’s bio used to say: “Wife, mother, sister, daughter. Entrepreneur & advocate for the education and empowerment of women & girls. This is my personal page. Views expressed are my own.”

And here’s what it said Monday: “Wife, mother, sister, daughter. Advisor to POTUS on job creation + economic empowerment, workforce development & entrepreneurship. Personal Pg. Views are my own.”

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: The women’s march on Saturday must have prompted Ivanka Trump to realize that her support of female empowerment and her support of her father are mutually exclusive. Ivanka can’t fight for both–she has to pick one. And she did.

HOW WE FEEL: *Unfollow*

Nutella is 70% off in France

THE STORY: Intermarché, a major supermarket chain in France, offered a 70% discount on 33-ounce jars of Nutella, bringing the price down from €4.50 to €1.40. The slash in prices drew a heated crowd, causing violent scenes and leaving several people injured. And then the police had to be called…

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: This heavenly hazelnut-and-chocolate spread is the single unifying thing between all French people. So when it gets marked down more than 70%, French people won’t surrender. Don’t be mad because you don’t understand the madness! Plus, have you ever had a fresh banana and Nutella crepe from a Parisian street vendor at 3am after a night of drinking wine along the Siene? Try it, and you’ll understand the hype.

Wonder Woman didn’t receive a SINGLE Oscar nomination

THE STORY: Many fans had hoped that after its mass critical and box office success, Wonder Woman would be awarded a nod from the Academy. But when the nomination list was announced earlier this week, these hopes were shattered: no best director nomination for Patty Jenkins, no nomination for best picture, and not even a token technical nomination in sound mixing or costume design.

THE REACTION:

RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE RAGE: This was an extremely disappointing snub. Wonder Woman was a game changing film, and such a major fixture in pop culture conversations this past year.

With grace and gratitude, Gal Gadot puts the missed nomination more elegantly than I ever could: “I was very moved and touched by the feedback of all the people that were disappointed that ‘Wonder Woman’ wasn’t nominated,” the star of the film told Entertainment Tonight in response to the outrage. “But we certainly never did the movie for that.”
