Bianca Andreescu Says Drake is Yet to Message Her After US Open Win
Although there's been plenty of famous Canadians showing their support, Bianca Andreescu says there's still one missing.
Three days on from her history-making US Open win, Bianca Andreescu is living her best life on the press circuit following the tournament.
First, she repped Montreal brand Marie Saint Pierre at her WTA official portrait ceremony, and then she made a quick change into a leopard print Dennis Basso dress for an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The 19-year old appeared on the show to talk about her win (“I am truly blessed,” she told the host) as well as what’s been happening in the 72 hours since.
Andreescu told Fallon she’s had little time to let everything sink in, adding that following her back injury last year being able to hold the winning trophy is “something pretty special.” The show host then commented on how excited Canada has been in response to the win, asking who has congratulated the champ so far. “Shania Twain,” was Bianca’s first response, followed by “Justin Trudeau, John Tory, Steve Nash, the Raptors, the Leafs – I’ve been feeling all the love from home and I truly appreciate it.”
Fallon then asked if there was anyone she hasn’t heard from yet, to which Bianca responded with a laugh, “Drizzy” before adding, “Champagne Papi, I’m waiting for you! Don’t @ me!”
And Bianca isn’t the only member of the Andreescu family who’s made headlines since the final. Her mum, Maria, has also been lauded for her bold style and calm demeanour court-side. Chrissy Teigen was dragged this week for criticizing Maria, with fans rushing to praise her poise and highlight her own achievements (she has an MBA and is the chief compliance officer at an investment firm, just FYI). One Twitter user created a meme of Maria’s very calm response to Bianca’s first set triumph, to which Bianca responded, “This is actually hilarious. My moms a straight G. I’ll never be that cool.”
