Your Post-Makeout Lipstick Look is Now a Thing

Pucker up.

When going on a date, you usually want to equip yourself with some long-lasting kiss-proof lipstick for your impending makeout sesh. But it looks like smeared lips could be a trend, at least if Preen has anything to do with it.

For Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s fall/winter 2017 fashion show at London Fashion Week, models walked down the runway wearing smudged lipstick as if they were fresh off of a hot and heavy rendezvous. Dubbed “snogging lips” by makeup artist Val Garland (who also coined the term CSL for “cock sucking lip”), the diffused effect gives a “morning after” vibe that many other designers (namely, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang) have been adopting as of late.

“It’s about kissing and snogging. This girl goes clubbing, she’s confident and she loves kissing,” Garland told Vogue. “I’m using MAC’s Lip Mix and smudging out the line, using a larger brush and buffing it out, and then applying gloss within the lip line but not outside it.”

The rest of the beauty look was kept simple, with clean skin, minimal eye makeup and groomed brows.

Smudged lips aren’t exactly new — blurred lips were prominent on the fall 2013 runways and similar iterations (including the ombré lip) followed, making their way to the Instagram beauty crowd. Snogging lips are definitely the messiest of the bunch, however, and give off that whole #sorrynotsorry vibe that frankly, we’re loving right now.
