This Booth Offers Hands-Free Sunscreen Application in Just 10 Seconds
Applying sunscreen can be quite the ordeal, especially when it comes to rubbing it in so you don’t have any white streaks left over. But since sun protection is obviously important, we suck it up and do it anyway.
However, there’s one company who’s trying to make putting on sunscreen a breeze with hands-free application that only takes 10 seconds. Called SnappyScreen, the sunscreen booth is supposedly “the world’s first touchless sunscreen application system.”
So how does it work? Essentially, like a spray tan booth would, but using sunscreen instead of self-tanner. All you have to do is select your level of SPF (15, 30 and 40), indicate your height (over or under five feet) and stand still to get sprayed (the booth rotates your body, so you’ll get full, even coverage without even having to move!).
But does misting your skin with sunscreen really offer the protection you need? According to Dr. Julia Carroll, a Toronto-based dermatologist, for the most part, yes.
“This is an exciting innovation. It seems to apply evenly and thoroughly,” says Dr. Carroll. “I would advise users to go for the SPF 50 and to touch up hidden areas like the skin by the axillae (arm pit), between the legs and the back of the neck. I would also recommend a proper face application with a cream or lotion with SPF 50.”
Unfortunately, the SnappyScreen is only available at select hotels in the U.S., but here’s hoping it makes it’s way to Canada soon.
