Spring has sprung, and with it comes longer, sunnier days, sangria sipped patio-side (finally!) and catching an afternoon Jays games. If there’s one enduring spring trend that tops it all though, year after year, it’s the warm welcome of a soft, super pretty pastel palette.
But while sorbet shades are arguably the dreamiest of them all, sporting a head-to-toe look can be a little much. Instead, take after the likes of Marc Jacobs, Thom Brown and Preen, to name a few, who presented their spring offerings paired with super pretty pastel makeup looks like mint lips and lids, and even festival-ready pastel florals. Here, our favourites to get you #pastelpretty.
NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bolero is the prettiest peach you’ve ever seen, and comes in a modern, matte yet creamy texture, all with the ease of a jumbo pencil.
Dior’s brand new Dior Addict Lacquer Stick looks perfectly spring-ready thanks to a double dose of pastel makeup in Pop Magazine’s cover story, beautifully displayed on their Instagram page. Popsicle pink lips and pastel eyeshadow look so right together.
For a softer pink and spring-ready flush that’s all your own, glide on Givenchy’s Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm. Reacting with your skin’s natural pH, a custom shade will develop while also seriously boosting moisture and plumping lips to boot. Even better? The stunning, genuine leather pastel pink case this balm is housed in.
Become your own mad scientist and create a pastel slick with ColourPop’s Mixed Finish Lip Collection. Muted or dialled up, glossy or matte, anything is possible with these endless combos.
For the full-pout, lipstick loving ladies out there, Benefit Cosmetics answered your prayers with their new They’re Real! Double The Lip Lipstick & Liner in One. Featuring a slighter deeper edge to line and fill lips in one easy swipe, we love the brightening and flattering pastel-like Criminally Coral shade.
Marc Jacobs sent his girls down the runway this season with shimmering mint lids, and we’re here for it.
For a more IRL-wearable look, take a cue from the lovely lavender lids shown at Jeremy Scott by sweeping on NARS’ Due Eyeshadow in Lost Coast — the sheer, shimmery finish is perfectly complemented by the soft shade.
Teeez Cosmetics Spectrum of Stars Eyeshadow in Bleached Jeans makes a really pretty all-over wash, and the packaging is as gorgeous as the product—and the result.
Go for a multi-shaded pastel look if unicorns are your thing, inspired by the makeup at Jill Stuart SS17, and see what magic happens.
For an all-out blooming spring look, deck your neck out à la Preen’s S/S2017 backstage look and feel the pastel-lovin’ flower power.
Peach cheeks top a spring ready look, and combine the brightening effects of blush with the glow-enhancing tones of a bronzer. We love Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow palette, which offers a blush and highlighting trio all in one.
Adam Selman’s SS2017 collection was displayed with gloriously pastel makeup, and was girly, sweet and yet edgy in equal measure thanks to a seamless, monochromatic application from cheek to brow bone.
Sweep on Givenchy’s Prisme Blush to get that gorgeous, flattering glow, and revel in the stunning prisms while applying.
Afterward, swipe Milk Makeup’s Liquid Strobe on the high planes of the face — we love the brightening Ultraviolet lavender shade — for an otherworldly glow.
If you prefer powder all the way, sweep on Becca’s new Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed- Prismatic Amethyst.
Set your look with Givenchy’s limited Couture Edition Prisme Libre (on counter April 20). The iconic 01 Mousseline Pastel Shade loose powder features four complexion-enhancing pastel shades that when blended together and applied, create an even finish. Snap up the limited graphic-print packaging this season for an updated, luminous look.
