Holiday makeup tutorial: Try out a green smoky eye, one of the season’s biggest trends

Step 1:

Start out with an eye primer. (We used The Body Shop’s “Instablur™ Eye”). When working with a colour, a primer can help the colour show up more intensely and last longer. We’ve also added a matte white shadow (like “Strange” by Urban Decay) under the brow bone and in the corner of the inner eye.

Step 2:

Using an eye shadow stick (we used Waterproof Forever Eye Shadow Stick by GOSH in “Green”, thickly line your lower lash line and colour in your entire eye lid, up to the crease.

To enhance the green on the lower lash line, we added some more liner with Maybelline’s Color Show Kohl Liner in “Green Envy.” This does not need to be done perfectly, as your next step is to take a finger and blend it all out.

Step 3:

Intensify the look. Add a black shadow into the outer crease of your eyelid. We used Maybelline’s Expert Wear in “Night Sky.” Remember to tap off your brush before going in with a black shadow, and always start with very little product and build your way up. Also, blending is key! Take a black eyeliner pencil (Quo Eyeliner in black) and intensify your lower lash line as well (and of course, blend!).

Step 4:

This look is pretty extreme, so to brighten up the inner eye, add a nude eyeliner to the waterline to bring out the whites of your eyes. We also added a tinge of shimmery silver in the inner corner of eyes to open them up a bit.

Step 5:

Finish off with mascara (We used Makeup Forever Smokey Extravagant Mascara) and a nude lip, and voila! You’re pulling off green eye shadow!
