The Beauty Products We’re Loving This Month

FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah, Associate Beauty Editor Suzie Michael, and Beauty Writer Madelyn Chung. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).

Redken Blow No Blow Dry Air Dry Stylers

SM: Redken’s new No Blow Dry Air Dry Stylers are my absolute fave new launch. There’s three of them: one for fine hair, one for medium hair and one for coarse hair. I alternate between using the medium and coarse ones. The former for when I want, ugh, “beachy waves” (I’m so sick of that term) and the latter when I want my curls a bit more defined. As someone who never, ever blow dries their hair, these have been a godsend. Before they came along, my air dry method was using, like, a third of a bottle of oil on my ends and hoping for the best. The results were…not the best (aka unpredictable). What I like about the Redken products is that I can rest assured that my hair will do what I want it to every time.

The line features “Air-Tex Technology,” the first technology of its kind that actually speeds up air drying time, and I can totally attest to that! I wash my hair at night and I no longer have to go to bed with sopping wet hair.

Oh and the branding is genius. “No Blow Dry. #NBD.” Come on, that is brilliant.

Skinceuticals Phyoto Corrective Gel and Masque

MC: I recently discovered Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel and it’s honestly been a game-changer for me. A few months ago, I suffered from a MAJOR allergic reaction on my face which resulted in extreme inflammation, followed by some serious shedding (it was not pretty). Once it cleared though, I started using this magical green elixr and I swear it has kept my usual redness and inflammation at bay. It’s super soothing and cooling when you apply it, and for a gel, it’s much more hydrating than I thought (I’m pretty sure I can get away with just using this sans moisturizer in the summer).

There’s also the mask version of the gel (Phyto Corrective Masque), which just recently launched in Canada. I use it on days when my skin is particularly temperamental. Again, it’s really refreshing as its ultra-cooling, and after using it, the redness and inflammation is visibly reduced. Honestly don’t think I’ll ever get rid of these in my regular beauty routine.

Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

LH: I’ve been using Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum instead of my usual acid toner for about two weeks, focusing it especially on my chin and around my nose. Not only has it drastically reduced the amount of blackheads I usually get there—which I examine up close nightly, and honestly I don’t think that could ever be possible—but it’s faded two post-inflammatory acne marks MUCH faster than I’ve ever witnessed a product do before. And though it tingles, my skin is never left looking burned or feeling over sensitized.
